The Kolkata-The City of Joy is always close to my heart as that is my hometown. As a family, we try to visit Kolkata once every other year to meet our family back home. This time it was my maiden solo trip. As we have a wheelchair user and elderly people in my family we decided to do a Kolkata day trip by car covering some of the new and timeless iconic places.  I will be giving details about the places from where you get the best views.

The places we covered are

The Science City Kolkata and Atmosphere – ♿️ ♿️

If you drive by Mirania Gardens, Topsia below the Maa Flyover you get the iconic view of the science city and the Atmosphere building. Just drive around and park at a convenient spot to get the best view.

ITC Royal Bengal ♿️ ♿️ ♿️

This is a new iconic beauty visible from the Biswa Bangla Sarani. You can also plan a visit here to experience Bengal’s heritage and culture. Every corner of the hotel speaks about Kolkata’s culture and heritage

The Victoria Memorial ♿️ ♿️

This white marble monument is a perfect representation of sheer magnificence. A drive through the Queen’s Way from Cathedral Road will give you the best views of the Victoria Memorial,  Maidan, and Racecourse. You can get down near the main gate for some pictures and if interested can enjoy a colonial-style Tonga ride. You can also enjoy some Bengali-style Phuchkas and Jhalmuri. This activity is completely wheelchair accessible

Howrah Bridge and Hoogly Bridge- ♿️

The Howrah Bridge and Vidyasagar Setu are significant landmarks of Kolkata and a must-see attractions for all visitors. 

After crossing the Howrah Bridge keep going on Howrah Station Road from where you can see the other side and the iconic view of both Bridges. There are ferries from Ramkrishnapur Ghat which will take you to Babughat. The Jetty on the Ghat is completely Wheelchair accessible from where you can click some Pictures. But the Ferry is Not wheelchair accessible.

Esplanade Tram Depot ♿️

The first electric tram in Asia ran in Kolkata between Esplanade and Kidderpore. There is a Tram Museum which you can visit. The inside of the Tram is not wheelchair accessible. But you get a nice view of the iconic Tram from outside. A good spot to click pictures.

JamesPrincep Ghat ♿️ ♿️ ♿️

This is a grand white Pantheon-style structure with the mighty river flowing beside it. This is a very historical place and one of the most romantic places in Kolkata. This place is completely Wheelchair accessible. Grab some Jhal muri and enjoy the charm.
