Exploring Arctic Norway in summer is truly a unique experience, where the sun never sets and the landscapes take your breath away. We started in Tromsø, then took a scenic loop through Sommarøy, Kvaløya, and the beach town of Grotfjord. From there, we ventured on the grander loop to Narvik, with memorable stops at the beautiful islands of Husøy and Senja.

The drive from Narvik to Bodø was spectacular, a journey through stunning landscapes of architectural bridges, fjords, snow-capped mountains, glistening waters, and blooming lupines. Taking the ferry from Bodø to the Lofoten Islands was an adventure in itself!

The Lofoten Islands are pure magic. We explored the picturesque villages of Reine, Hamnøy, Nusfjord, Ramberg, and the southernmost tip, Å — each with its cozy harbors tucked beneath dramatic mountain backdrops.

Continuing our loop, we visited the charming town of Henningsvær, home to the iconic island football stadium, and Svolvær, the vibrant harbor town. We wrapped up our journey with a cozy tipi visit in Heia before heading back to Tromsø.

At 69° North, this Arctic journey was surreal ,24 hours of daylight, the midnight sun, majestic fjords, snow-capped peaks, and unforgettable coastal beauty. A summer road trip unlike any other.

Wheelchair Accessibility ♿ ♿ ♿

We were genuinely impressed by the excellent ♿️ wheelchair accessibility throughout Arctic Norway and the Lofoten Islands. Every rest area and even the smallest villages had ♿️accessible bathrooms and facilities. Most city centers and tourist areas were easily navigable.

🚗 Wheelchair accessible Parking: Most parking lots had designated ♿️wheelchair spaces. In many places, these were free, but always check the signs — some do require payment. Parking machines were available and easy to use.

⛴️ Car Ferries: The ferries were fully accessible, with elevators and ramps for easy access to the passenger decks. The staff was helpful and accommodating throughout.

🌄 Viewpoints: Most scenic viewpoints — especially those in towns and along the roads were ♿️ wheelchair friendly. Only the high mountain peak viewpoints were not accessible.

⛽ Fuel & EV Stations: Circle K gas stations and EV charging points were easy to find everywhere. Bonus: if you have the Koppen refill cups, you can enjoy free coffee at any Circle K , a fun and welcome perk during long drives!

This trip was not only beautiful but also very wheelchair ♿️ accessible. It made the experience all the more enjoyable and unforgettable.
