Sky scrapers, amazing and stylish people, futuristic architecture, eye-catching gardens…. Where do you think I am? Here are a few more hints. Beautiful Garden by the bay, Creative sculpture of a Lion, spectacular infinity pool connecting two high rise buildings. Yes, you guessed it! Yet another spectacular micro-country – Singapore

Winter holidays 2018 was a memorable vacation for our family. It was really special as we were celebrating my grandparents Golden Anniversary and for the first time we were also traveling overseas with our new companion ‘Luggie’ (A portable mobility scooter) which made our trip a lot more easier and smoother.
We decided to fly Singapore airlines as we planned to stay in Singapore for a few days. For a small country like Singapore, 3 days are good enough or so we thought ?. The mind blowing Changi Airport, the mouth watering street food, tropical weather, the cleanliness and the heartwarming kindness of the people all around were all very pleasant experience for us. Singapore, a beautiful micro country in terms of area, is a melting pot of various cultures representing themselves in various ways. There is Little India, Chinatown and many other ethnic regions. Singapore has four official languages namely English, Malay, Tamil and Mandarin. Architecture in Singapore is very modern and futuristic. A very good mix of modern-day and cultural architecture. Food is simply fantastic. We tasted the mouth-watering Sauté and the special Singaporean chili Crab. Street food options in Singapore is simply amazing.

Wheelchair Accessibility  ♿

  • ♿️♿️ Orchard road -We started with Orchard road’s famous street foods which is the heart of Singapore. This road is famous for shopping and street food. It was an amazing experience eating delicious street food at midnight in the Cuppage Plaza. In Orchard Road the malls are accessible but the all sidewalks do not have a ramp. The restaurants are accessible if you sit inside but outside seating is on an elevated platform which is not accessible.
  • ♿️♿️♿️ Marina Bay Sands Hotel: A Singapore attraction where from the 57th floor you can get the areal view of the city. Its observation deck is open to public for a fee. It has an infinity pool which connects two buildings but that is only for the hotel guests. We went to the observation deck and enjoyed the picture perfect view from the top. The observation deck is completely accessible. It has a perfect spot for wheel chair parking and you get the perfect view of the Merlion Park and the Gardens by the Bay. Unfortunately, the roof top restaurant CE LA VI is not wheelchair accessible

  • ♿️♿️♿️♿️ Gardens by the bay: As you enter the walkway of the Gardens it takes you through the lush green beauty of cloud forest, Orchids and many many more different variety of flowers. Since it was Christmas time that added to its flavor. This sprawling garden in the city also provides mesmerizing waterfront views across. You can just grab some delicious sauté, get a cosy place to sit and enjoy the view. This place is completely wheelchair accessible and you can enjoy each and every corner of the garden. Just keep an eye for the wheelchair path in the walkways

  • ♿️♿️♿️ 1 Fullerton square: In the evening we headed to 1 Fullerton which is the famous waterfront with the awesome view of the hotel Marina Bay Sands. You can just park yourself and spend hours there enjoying the waterfront, beautiful Singapore sky line at night and the food served by the waterfront restaurants. There is also a laser show that happens every hour. We also checked out the famous Merlion which is the Mascot of Singapore. There is a ramp in the back side of the building from where you can and come to the water pong.People are very helpful there .They will inform you about any special instruction.
The Merlin statue is not wheel chair accessible at all.

  • ♿️♿️♿️♿️ Bugis Street market is a cobbled street market which is a mecca for shoppers and bargain-hunters. This market has just about everything you can think of – CDs, souvenirs, t-shirts, shoes, jewelry, knick knacks and other fashion items. I was really amazed by the safety of that place. Very crowded but very well behaved. All merchandize openly displayed but not a single incident of stealing or pick pocketing. Bugis market is completely wheelchair accessible but if you are on crutches this place might be little tricky as the street is cobbled and crowded.

  • ♿️♿️♿️Clarke Quay: This is the Singapore’s historical water front. This place has a very lively night life with lots of restaurants and bars. During Day time there are many family friendly activities and cultural visits. The water front is mostly accessible. All the restaurants might not have a ramp but make sure to check out the neighboring restaurant which normally has a connecting ramp that will give you access to your restaurant.
